Play a Musical Instrument
Hello My Friends,
I want to talk about musical instruments. There are two kinds, rythmic: drums, congas, percussion, and more, and melody: piano, guitar, horns, and more. Music is the only art you can hear and see. Music has been around as long as humans have lived. It has lead tribes and built relationships. It has been a lasting relationship to human communication.
Music can strengthen the soul and help dreams come true. It has a power no other creative force has. It will make you think, make you dance and help your mind understand what it has not been able to until you hear it. From Norwegian Wood to You Really Got Me, music has a wide range of feelings. If you are bold enough pick up an instrument and begin to play it. That takes guts, do it it can heal or mend your soul.
Rythmic instruments are a way to set the core of music. Melody instruments tell the story, they decide the tone of what you want to say. You must understand the difference of the instruments to understand.
Pick up an instrument yourself and understand what you want to do. Then take lessons from someone that does understand, and see if it fits you. I believe everyone should do this whether you want to make it a success or just understand the meaning of music. Think for yourself about this. It is a wonderful world, the world of music.
If it does fit your mind, study, study, study, and you will become proficient. The world is yours. Then write words or find a partner that can. Elton John writes the music, while Barry Taupin writes the words. They have been very successful. This is a creative way that has no rules, they change with the times. Be an innovator...! We need you.
Please play an instrument and widen your horizon and your mind, be the best you can!
Play an instrument...!

Difference Between Two Musical Instruments
Introduction
The Epiphone Les Paulis, the 'lite' version of the legendary Gibson Les Paul. It is priced in a more economically friendly manner, and provides starting musicians as well as more experienced ones the ability to experience almost everything the Gibson Les Paul provides, but without the need for an enormous budget.
What's the Difference?
Though most of the differences between the Gibson Les Paul and the Epiphone are negligible to many, seasoned guitar veterans will typically be able to spot almost instantaneously the subtle differences in tone between the two. The Epiphone does not contain Gibson hardware, and though the sounds don't come right out and announce their deviance, the trained ear would easily pick up on this.
Another large difference between the Gibson Les Paul and the Epiphone is in the price of each model mentioned before. The sometimes astronomical gap between the budgets of two fellow musicians is often times unreal, and in providing guitarists with the opportunity to create quality music at nearly half the price for equipment is tantamount to a public service provided by Epiphone.
But I Want A Gibson!
If you are steadfast in your crusade to own a Gibson Les Paul and you have the means to do it, then by all means stick to your guns and purchase one knowing that you are buying the very best guitar in the world. You can brag extensively to all of your friends about the expensive tool you have at your disposal and even occasionally wow them with every little thing that the Gibson Les Paul of legend is capable of. But, if instead you are a touring musician still struggling to make ends meet, blowing a massive wad of cash on one instrument will very likely not be the wisest move considering your finances. The Epiphone is able to provide almost the very same level of quality and at nearly half the price. Wouldn't it be a wiser move to strengthen and consolidate yourself behind a finely crafted tool of your trade that won't leave you bankrupt? That Gibson Les Paul may be pretty, but it's also pretty expensive. Always try and look at the big picture when deciding on this large of an investment.
I Want Options!
Often guitarists are thought of as Samurai. Noble musical warriors wielding their guitars as weapons against whatever angst or emotion being expressed through their music. The are almost Knights, slaying the dragons of our emotional torrents and rescuing figurative princesses with dextrous fingers that glide us forever onward towards victory. Many guitarists identities are so entwined with their instruments, that one wonders if denied the touch of the strings and the weight of the body, some guitar players might simply fade away. If you know you want a Les Paul but are undecided of what type to go with, remember to examine every aspect of what you need from a guitar. Are you a warrior poet as described above, or more of a hulking brute charging forcefully through your music like an angry troll? What if you don't even know what sort of musical persona you represent through your artistry? Take heart, even if you have not yet even began to walk down the path of musical identity you can still figure this out. Try and find a dealer with both the Gibson Les Paul and the Epiphone on site. Show up, plug in, and give each guitar a chance to show you how it blends itself into what you can do as a musician. Listen intently for the small things that would go unnoticed by the casual enthusiast. How does each model feel when grasped between your hands and coursing with the power of sound? Do both of the guitars allow you freedom of movement and accentuate what you as a guitarist are capable of? Perhaps one model does all of these things and one does not, or perhaps your allegiances will be torn when you discover each provides you with several things you want, and you are forced to decide just what it is exactly you value from your instrument. The only way to truly discover whether the Gibson Les Paul or the Epiphone model is for you is to strap each of them across your body and go to work. This is an important decision and one that should not be made lightly. Choose your weapon wisely, musical warrior. You are headed into battle. Huzzah!

Making Beautiful Music With Carbon Fiber-Made Musical Instruments
With carbon fiber in surge of popularity in different areas like in military, engineering, automobile, aerospace and even sporting equipment, the musical industry also wanted to try the material in many applications to get full benefits of the musical instruments where the composite materials were applied.
In a nut shell, carbon fibers are woven together to form a yarn. The fibers are subject to heat and pressure. Each bundle is made up of around three thousand to twelve thousand fibers, depending on the necessity of application. This is turn is woven to create a fabric or textile. Several layers are placed in a mold, coated with resin, and then sealed in a vacuum. The last stage is hardening the composite to shape it in the preferred style, whether the application is for cello, violin, viola or double bass shells.
Compared to musical instruments that are made of wood, these carbon-made instruments create a unique sound. The amplification is different because they produce louder and deeper sound. The sound produced vibrates throughout all the sides, maintaining a full-bodied sound. It is no wonder that this kind of instrument is now popularly used both in solo performances and orchestras world wide! Another plus factor of having this kind of musical instrument is that it has longer life span and has low maintenance. The wood-made instruments are subject to constant wear and tear with the instruments always being exposed to the heat of the sun, extreme coldness, travelling, not to mention the unforeseen accidents. That is the reason why most professional players prefer their instruments made out of this composites.
Recently, a bass guitar named Celtic Bass was introduced with the use of this composite. The instrument was studied, designed, and manufactured over a period of two years. It possesses the quality of an orchestral double bass and the versatility of an electric bass guitar. However, since carbon composite was used, it weighs lighter for the comfort of the players.
Without compromising the quality of sound produced and even the resonant qualities, musical instruments made out or carbon fiber are believed to be virtually indestructible. They now become equated with high performance level. For example, when used with these fibers, a perfect cello can be created without adding any unnecessary components like cornices that just eat away the sound.
Guitars are also making its waves with the use of this composite. Blackbird Guitars for one, is a proud maker of guitars made of out graphite. They have specific designs to cater to the needs of their growing customers. Their rider steel string is made intentionally for those who travel a lot. You can never go wrong in choosing this guitar as your constant travel companion with its weight at only 2.7 pounds! It can stand amidst change of weather and humidity without compromising the richness of sound the guitar produces.
Indeed, carbon fiber is perfect for musical instrument making.

Musical Instruments & Bankruptcy
Anyone can face sudden financial difficulties. Sudden life changes, such as serious accidents, can result in thousands of dollars in medical bills. Someone who had been in good financial health may find him or herself with unmanageable debt. If you are in a similar situation, bankruptcy may provide the most effective way to repay your debts and start again. Bankruptcy can mean selling some of your property to repay debts, a prospect that may sound unpleasant to those considering bankruptcy.
Musicians of all stripes, hobbyists and professional musicians alike, are prone to collecting pricey musical equipment. It is not rare for serious guitarists to spend thousands of dollars on new guitars, amplifiers, and related equipment. Filing for bankruptcy can help you out of dire financial situations, but it may be necessary to sell some, though perhaps not all, of that equipment in order to repay your debts.
There are a number of misconceptions about the bankruptcy process: rather than the court coming in and carrying out all of your possessions, you are in fact legally entitled to claim much of your property as exempt. Most of your household items can be kept exempt, as can some vehicles. Unless certain household items are extremely expensive, such as pricey Italian leather furniture, they are unlikely to be sold.
Under Massachusetts bankruptcy law, you can claim musical instruments and equipment as a component of your "household items," alongside things like furniture. Depending on what other property you are willing to sacrifice, you may be able to keep a significant portion of your gear. In addition, if you are a professional or semi-professional musician, you can claim a certain amount of equipment as necessary tools of the trade for your occupation.
Of course all of this depends on the particulars of your unique situation. Since bankruptcy can affect people of all backgrounds and walks of life, the assistance of an experienced bankruptcy attorney may be necessary to get the most out of your bankruptcy. With the right planning and guidance, you can clear your debt and start over.

Music Lessons For Adults - Two Ways You Can Learn a Musical Instrument Easily As an Adult
As adult the thought of picking up a guitar and learning to play might seem intimidating, even if you've dreamed of doing it your whole life. Children and teenagers have a much easier time learning new things like musical instruments both because they're still developing mentally and they have ample free time.
In this brief article I want to share with you two methods you can use to learn an instrument like the piano or guitar even if you have a busy schedule and don't believe you have a musical bone in your body. I can't promise you'll be a rock star, but you'll have a lot of fun.
There are two main challenges that adults face when they want to learn an instrument.
1.) Money, private music lesson cost a lot of money and because of that they're often push aside for other more realistic expenses.
2.) Time, in order to take private music lessons you must have the same night available week after week to take your lessons then find more time to practice.
What if you could overcome both of those obstacles? It would probably make it a lot easier to learn wouldn't it?
Let's look at two alternatives that exist that can help you save money and time while learning to play a musical instrument.
Online Lessons
That's right, you can learn the guitar, piano and even the drums through online video lessons. Most of these lessons are streamed, or played live off of the Internet on your computer screen. These types of instruction generally work better for instruments that are portable like the guitar since you can more easily play what you're being taught right in front of you computer.
The primary benefits to online lessons are the cost is far less then private lessons and you're in total control of when you choose to watch lessons, practice and how quickly you progress.
DVD Lessons
The second form of self study music lessons available are dvd lessons. I'm a fan of using dvd video lessons because they can be more easily used on your home TV and dvd player and you don't need an Internet connection to watch them.
The cost is about the same, although you usually pay an on going monthly fee for online lessons until you're done versus a one time fee for dvd lessons.
Both Online and DVD lessons make it easy for adults to learn an instrument without having to over commit to weekly instruction sessions and monthly lesson costs.

Musical Notes - What is a Minim?
A "minim" is a musical note that is widely used in piano sheet music. In fact, it's used in all sheet music for all musical instruments.
The minim has a hollow non-coloured oval shape with a stem on the right or left side depending on where on the staff it is written. When the minim is written higher up the staff or above the middle line, the stem will be written on the left side of the oval and pointing downwards. If it is below the middle line then the stem is written on the right side and pointing upwards. There are no hard and fast rules regarding this and ultimately whether to write the stem on left or right will be more for neatness and also to leave room for chord symbols and lyrics.
The minim is also referred to as a half note yet its musical time value is two beats. This is because the minim or half note should be referenced to the semibreve, which is worth four beats. Half of four equals two; the minim is worth two beats and is also half the value of a semibreve, hence the name half note.
An important reference note to all others, is the semibreve. A semibreve is also known as a whole note. Using simple fractions you can work out what different types of notes are called. We have already explained half notes, next would be quarter notes then eight notes and so on.
Also related to the minim is the minim rest or half rest. This is a musical silence worth two beats. A half rest is written as a small black rectangular box, which sits on the middle line of the staff.
Another relation to the minim is the dotted minim or dotted half note, which is worth three beats. It's useful to know that a dot written on the right side of any musical note, increases that's notes value by half as much again. So in the minims case, half of two equals one, add the one to the minims value of two, two plus one equals three.
Even though notes such as the minim, which we now know, can be referred to as a half note, it is useful to know the actual name of the note. The smallest note value in modern music is a sixty fourth note called a "hemidemsemiquaver" and the highest note value is called a "breve" which is worth eight beats and is not used anymore. Which is just as well or it would confuse things even more.

Ages to Start a Musical Instrument With a Child
Here's a bonding idea for you: learn to play a musical instrument along with your child.
I'm not saying it's a good idea, but it might work in your house. In our case, I put off beginning piano lessons until my daughter turned five, now a year ago. Apparently, five is the age when kids should start piano, unless they have exhibited Mozart-like tendencies play Schubert by ear on the local baby grand. In a recent unofficial poll, 47% of people who play musical instruments started playing between the ages of four and ten.
The BBCsite has a good guide on ages to start playing different instruments based on the size of the instrument, and the lung or body strength required, in brief:
o Recorder - often recommended as a starter instrument, can be played as soon as child can get fingers over the holes
o Violin - could start at 4, but 6 is more realistic
o Wind and brass - not before second set of teeth are in
o Guitar - comes in smaller sizes and can be played as of age eight, depending on size and stretch of hands
o Singing - formal lessons not advised until teens, after voices are more developed
Ideally, in all of these cases, the child should be able to recognize numbers and know letters through G, for obvious reasons.
I found a teacher who bought into my idea of learning along with my daughter, or who at least humored me in my plan. At our first lesson, she met my daughter and me, let us plunk around on the keys, and ordered us beginner books. I did not get the one with zoo animals playing in a band, I got the more austere-looking AdultPiano Adventures.
On our second lesson, it was clear there was something wrong with my plan. My daughter banished me to the waiting area and conducted her part of the lesson in private. I was allowed five minutes at the end to show what I learned. This continued on for weeks on end, until we finally broke up our "lesson." I went on to take 45-minute bi-weekly lessons and she changed teachers for a more convenient, and private, at-school lesson. Which leads me to several things I found out about kids and learning music:
1. Wait until they are ready to learn. Unless your child appears to be a prodigy, and you're likely to see this right away, wait until at least age five to begin lessons. Some even recommend six or seven depending on the facility reading and counting.
2. At the beginning, remove any pressure to play and practice. You'll have plenty of time to spoil the love of music later when you force her or him to play four hours a day. For now, let your child play when he or she wants to. As time progresses, start with putting the child at the piano for five minutes per day and advancing from that as lessons start to take hold. Try to make music as fun as possible, and that means stopping your playing to let them in. If they want to play, let them at it.
3. Make sure your child really likes the teacher. If not, run, don't walk, to another instructor.
4. Create occasions for your child to play in front of people, with the proper warning. Our child, while not usually a performer, was relaxed playing for family when she knew and bought into the concert idea several months in advance.
5. Don't expect you'll be able to play with your child or help teach them, or you may be disappointed. I always let my daughter join me if she wants to play while I'm practicing, but I've failed miserably several times to show her how to play "her" music.
6. If possible, find easy one finger arrangements of songs your child likes. While a certain amount of instruction in the building blocks is key, there is nothing as motivating in music, to both adults and children, as playing a song that they know and love.
Experts on language teaching recommend reading aloud for all ages of students. Everyone - we adults included - enjoys being read to. Read more about Why is Reading Aloud So Important for Dads?

Set 6. This set matches Guitar Style 6 and is part of the Rock 6 collection It includes the songs Rockstar, Take It to the Limit, and Woman.
With all these cool drums sets to choose from, no doubt your kid will really enjoy his drum playing. This is so much better than banging on pots and pans. And best of all, this is a better alternative for parents who have grown tired of all those loud noises inside the house.

Choosing Which Brass Musical Instrument to Learn
Choosing a brass musical instrument to start playing may seem quite a daunting prospect. There are several factors to keep in mind such as cost, the player's physical size and weight capabilities and availability of teachers of that instrument (there are some very good online databases to assist you in finding qualified teachers in your area). The key consideration to bear in mind when choosing a brass instrument is that playing it should be fun! It's a good idea to choose your instrument according to which genre of music you like. For example, if you want to play jazz, there is no sense in learning the euphonium, whereas trumpets are popular in all genres. Some musicians get a kick from playing in an orchestra. Others opt to go solo. It's a good idea for the budding musician to keep in mind at the outset an idea of the general direction he would like to go in. After all, what started out as a hobby may flourish to become a lucrative career, and what better than to be paid for playing the music you love!
Musical Genres
A classical symphony orchestra will usually feature tenor trombones, a bass trombone, a tuba, trumpets and horns.
A traditional brass band will incorporate a soprano cornet, euphoniums, a bass trombone, a flugelhorn, baritones, tenor trombones, tubas, cornets and tenor horns.
Big bands used in swing and jazz will usually incorporate trumpets, tenor trombones and a bass trombone.
Solo instrumentalists are used in a variety of music genres, from pop to folk to blues.
Brass Instruments Types
There are two families of brass musical instrument in modern music: valved and slide.
As the name suggests, valved instruments use a set of valves which the player operates with his fingers. Valves are usually piston valves, but may be rotary valves as in the case of tubas and horns (rotary valves require special care, for example they must be cleaned by an expert - see the cleaning section for further details). Most modern brass instruments are valved instruments, including the flugelhorn, cornet, trumpet, euphonium, French horn, tuba and tenor horn.
Slide instruments incorporate a slide to change the length of tubing, and thus raising and lowering the note. Trombones are the main family of slide instruments (bar the valve trombone, which is mostly used in jazz pieces).
Bugle
The bugle category of brass instruments incorporates bugles, trumpets, flugelhorns and cornets. There are subtle differences between these instruments in appearance, sound and playing technique. Buglists are sought after by brass bands, particularly military bands.
Trumpets
The trumpet is a popular choice of brass instrument. It is ideal for the beginner. Trumpets are used in a wide variety of music genres, which should help to keep learning interesting. Trumpets are convenient to transport and store and are relatively inexpensive.
Flugelhorn
Like the trumpet and cornet, the flugelhorn belongs to the bugle family of brass musical instruments. It is similar to the trumpet but its sound is slightly sweeter. Flugelhorns are widely used in a variety of music types, from classical to traditional brass band music, and are very popular in jazz.
Cornets
The cornet is similar to the trumpet, but with a slightly more melodic sound. Cornets are ideal for beginners because they are more compact than trumpets, which makes them easier to hold. Cornets are a vital component of a traditional brass band but, like the trumpet, their musical range is extensive. Cornets are relatively inexpensive to buy.
Euphoniums and Tubas
These instruments can be enormous and tend to be quite expensive. However, euphoniumists and tubist are becoming few and far between and so are always in demand. Tubas can be so big that you may struggle fitting it into the boot. Euphoniums are smaller scaled and have a wonderful range. These instruments are elementary to the classical symphony orchestra and the traditional brass band.
French Horn
A french horn is both a beauty to behold and a delight to the ear. A good French horn will be quite expensive and challenging to learn. French horn players quite a rarity. No classical orchestra would be complete without half a dozen, however, meaning that players are much in demand.
Trombone
Despite this instrument's impressive range, trombonists are becoming an endangered species! Though the trombone is a reasonably priced instrument, its slides are very delicate and must be handled with great care. The trombone is easy to learn and there is great demand for trombonists to play in classical, swing, jazz and traditional brass bands.

Learning to Play Musical Instrument
If you recognize your music talent you are well on the path of learning to play a musical instrument. The next step is to find out the musical instrument of choice. Most popular musical instruments are guitar, piano, violin, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet and percussion instruments like drums, xylophone, vibraphone etc. Certain amateur musical instruments can be made at home using vessels etc. Here is a simple musical instrument which can be easily made using 18 china bowls. The bowls should be of different sizes. Pour water in the bowls and arrange the bowls according to the size. If you strike the rim of the bowls using a spoon you can hear a particular frequency. With a little musical talent any body can arrange the bowls in the melodic order and make music by striking the bowls.
Learning to play piano is ideal for people having less time to learn. The basic lessons are easy and with a couple of such lessons you can enjoy your own music at home even before becoming an expert. But the disadvantage is that the piano is costly and takes much space to occupy. You can go for an electronic keyboard which is less costly.
Guitar is a stringed instrument and is slightly difficult in the beginning because you will not be able to make good quality sound in the initial stages. But with slight hard work you can strum away within a year.
Violin is another stringed instrument. You have to approach violin very seriously because it takes a lifetime to master.Until you are a good player you will not be able to play solo or get along with an orchestra. Even you cannot practice at home without giving discomfort to the neighbor unless you are an expert. Flute is a wind instrument. It is made on a piece of bamboo with a closed end. There holes at different lengths. Sounds are made by closing and opening the holes using fingertips. the most difficult part of learning is the making of sound by blowing on one of the holes. When you are able to produce fairly good sound the rest will be easy. Recorder coexists with flute in the same class. The blowing is easier with the presence of mouthpiece. More serious learners can go for clarinet or even saxophone which calls for more dedication and practice. Other members of the wind category are brass instruments like trumpet, trombone, horn etc. These are better suited for people interested in making music a profession.

World Musical Instruments - Exploring Musical Inclinations From Some Countries Around the Globe
Music is a part of our everyday lives; simply, it is a part of human nature. This is manifested by how people cater to music artists, how we fawn over the latest songs that we feel we can relate to, and how humming to the tune of our song inclination is a common sight. Indeed, music is everywhere, even before technology allowed us to make music faster and to reach people with more speed. Its prevalence today is perhaps the same as its prevalence in the past, in the sense of its pervasiveness amongst people.
When we feel happy, when we feel sad, when we feel lonely, when we feel angry, there is a kind of music, a kind of tone, a kind of song that will fit whatever we are feeling, what with the number of musical compositions we have been exposed to since our birth. Music is a creation, a production. If food needs ingredients to come to life, then musics ingredients lie in the musical instruments that bring it to life.
They say music is a universal language, because it does not matter if one can not understand he music; the flow of music may very well be enough. Almost every country, and all countries I know of, produces music. This music may serve to cater to people in that country only, or to serve a more international purpose. However it is aimed to do, the music from one country can always be heard by a person from another country if he wishes to. This is why music and musical instruments is universal, and why it is interesting to know the extent of its universality.
Musical instruments: what they are and what some countries prefer
What are musical instruments?
These are those that give off sound, and thus generate music. It is made to generate music by the one holding or owning it, such as the musician or the player making use of it. The musician or the player can then produce sound effects to his satisfaction, using these types of instruments.
World musical instruments: showing the preference of two countries
Music encompasses the globe, and so do these types of instruments, for they pave way to the production of music. There are various kinds of musical instruments to suit ones purpose of a sound effect, and these include string instruments, wind instruments, percussion instruments, electronic instruments and friction instruments.
China's popular musical instruments
Almost every country has its own preference for music and thus for musical instruments, and China is no different. The musical instruments that are traditionally popular in China are made of materials that include stone, silk, gourd, metal, bamboo and wood. Wind and string instruments are very popular in China. An example of the latter is what they call an Erhu, which is a string instruments that is described as a two-stringed fiddle. An example of the latter is called the Dizi, which is a simple wind instrument made of bamboo. It is popular because it costs less than other types of these instruments and is fairly easy to learn.
Africa's popular musical instruments
In Africa, these are used to create music that has ritualistic value to them. They are used to create music for social and ceremonial functions. Percussion instruments and drums are considered to be the most popular types of musical instruments in Africa. Specifically, one of the most popular musical instruments in Africa is called the Mbira, a thumb piano that can be used in different ways by different cultures in Africa to serve a variety of purposes.
You may not have played a musical instrument in your life, nor be interested in doing so, but I am sure you have heard music being played and appreciated it. As music is a very pervasive aspect in our lives, it is always good to know whatever we can about it.
